Larimar - "Embrace the serenity of Larimar" - Inspiring Jewellery

Larimar gemstone is a unique blue form of a mineral called pectolite. It can only be found in the Dominican Republic, near Barahona.

"It's unique; you can only get it in the Dominican Republic.

LARIMAR was 1st discovered for mining and marketing in 1974. However, many of the inhabitants of the Dominican Republic and their ancestors were long aware of the stone.

Larimar crystal has healing properties that can benefit the body, mind, and spirit. It can stimulate important energy centers in the body and promote wisdom and manifestation. Larimar is also associated with peace and love.

Larimar has been nicknamed the "Dolphin Stone" and, more recently, the "Lucky Stone." There's a story of a woman who bought a Larimar ring while going through a rough patch and then went on to meet her soulmate and win the lottery, which added to its reputation as a lucky charm.

Here are the main points about the healing properties of Larimar:

  • Larimar is believed to have physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual healing benefits.
  • It stimulates the heart, throat, third eye, and crown chakras, promoting inner wisdom and outer manifestation.
  • It represents peace, clarity, and love energy.
  • It is deeply nurturing, harmonizing the body and soul to new vibrations.
  • It awakens inner wisdom and manifestation abilities.
  • It connects to the energy of the Earth goddess and promotes Earth's evolution and healing.
  • Its Color and appearance remind you of the ocean and far-off sands.
  • It soothes the emotional body, releasing undesirable attachments and relieving stress.
  • Wearing the stone creates a sense of calm and awareness of the fundamental "all-rightness" of the world, despite temporary circumstances.

Larimar is too new to be considered a traditional birthstone. However, its energy resonates with those born at the end of winter and during the first leap into spring. This is true, particularly for those born in  March.

Larimar belongs to the zodiac sign Leo.

Larimar's blue Color makes it the natural birthstone for people born between February 19 and March 19, when the world is waiting for the vernal equinox and spring to arrive.

Larimar's calming energy is ideal for those hoping to soothe their anxious thoughts, feelings, and emotions.

Larimar is a rare blue variety of pectolite mineral found only in the Dominican Republic. Larimar jewelry is prized for its unique color and pattern, often incorporating swirls and other designs that highlight the stone's natural beauty.

Larimar is a relatively soft stone, with a Mohs hardness of around 4.5 to 5, so it is best suited for jewelry such as pendants, earrings, and bracelets rather than rings, which are subject to more wear and tear.

Considering its rarity, beautiful color, and universal appeal, it can be a perfect jewelry gift for her, a birthday gift, a Christmas gift, Valentine’s gift, or a gift for mom or friend.

It is recommended for people who are stressed. It is said to be a healing stone.

Larimar belongs to the zodiac sign Leo.

Larimar can be gifted on the 25th anniversary.

Clean regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth to keep your Larimar jewelry or stones beautiful.

  •  You are cleaning your Larimar stones with clear, unscented dish soap and a toothbrush.
  •  Gently wash with a soft brush using mild soap & warm water,
  •  Rinse beneath lukewarm water,
  •  Use a soft and dry cloth to pat it gently.
  •  Allow drying entirely before storage,
  •  Store in a small, clear, resealable bag (if possible).

Be sure to store your Larimar treasures in a safe place, away from light, in a jewelry box, cloth pouch, or drawer to extend their beauty.

To discharge Larimar, hold it under warm running water. To recharge, place it in filtered sunlight for an hour in the early morning or late evening or in the light of a full moon.

Larimar is photosensitive, so keep it away from intense sunlight to preserve its Color.

Larimar Durability and Care

  1. Larimar should not be exposed to chemicals, including perfumes, hand creams, and hand soaps.
  2. Clean the larimar jewelry after every use with a few drops of mild soap and a soft, dry cloth. Avoid brushing it too hard.
  3. Sterling silver larimar jewelry is prone to tarnish, so keep the jewelry in a dry place.
  4. Avoid wearing a larimar stone ring while washing dishes, as it affects the bezel setting, which holds the stone in its place.

It's somewhat softer than many other gemstones used in jewelry (Mohs 4.5 – 5), so it can be checked by carefully scratching the unpolished back of the piece with, for example, a part of quartz. If it doesn't scratch, it's not Larimar!

The finest stones are dark blue and translucent, but sky-blue specimens with cloud-like patterns are also highly prized.

Gem grading stands for Color, clarity, cut, and carat (weight). Gemologists grade gemstones based on these properties. This grading is the primary use for transparent gemstones.

Larimar is a Translucent and Opaque gemstone whose grading will differ. Our Larimar grading system is composed of Color (this includes patterns), Purity, Shape, Weight (grams), and Clarity (Translucent or Opaque).
